CFUnited RIA Security Presentation

22 Jun 07:27
Thanks to everyone who attended my CFUnited presentation. I had a good turnout and I think it went pretty well. I am hoping that next year I can do a topic of my own choosing! :) Anyway, below is the presentation for those who want it. You can get the sample code out of Subversion at code.google.com/p/remotesynthesis. On a side note, as you can see the PDF conversion in Acrobat.

ColdFusion Open-Source Update - June 16, 2008

17 Jun 12:23
Two new projects and eight updates this week. I wanted to take the time to say goodbye to the ColdFusion Weekly. Thanks to Matt and Peter for working so hard on it for two years. This was literally the only podcast I regularly listened to (and occasionally guested on). I will definitely miss it. On a happier note, see you all at CFUnited tomorrow night.

Three new projects and eight updates this week including Transfer 1.0, Todd Sharp's iLearn learning management system and Barney Boisvert's interesting Groovy integration proof-of-concept. Two new releases and five updates this week. The big new release being CodexWiki which looks to be a very full-featured wiki application. Anyway, I have apparently been very successful at stirring up trouble in the CF community lately... I promise to stay out of trouble this week...or so...New Releases and Updates New Project: CodexWiki Initial Release Luis Majano and Mark Mandel finally released their Wiki application to the public.

Five new projects and five updates this week. Yes, its Tuesday and not Monday but I was away on vacation in Kennebunkport, Maine hoping to bump into George, Sr. He was there and usually addresses the Memorial Day parade crowd but apparently he got ill and didn't make it. Oh well. Guess he didn't hear I was in town.New Releases and Updates New Project: AnythingToXML Initial Release Dan Gaspar's project aims to make it easy to generate complex XML documents.

Does ColdFusion's Cost Inhibit Its Development?

23 May 04:23
This post is to throw something out there that has been running through my head lately, so forgive any rambling. This shouldn't be read as a dig at Adobe or the ColdFusion team in any way, just a hypothesis that I have been mostly debating with myself and have decided to solicit opinions on. I am playing a bit of devil's advocate here since I am not totally convinced of my own argument, nonetheless the goal is to solicit discussion.

Four new projects and five updates this week. This week featured a lot of news out of the Adobe Community Summit that can't be shared...but apparently it was really cool! If you knew, you would be excited. Sorry, its just my conference envy speaking. ;) No summit or WebManiacs for me...but catch me at CFUnited.New Releases and Updates New Project: ColdQuery Initial Release This project by Lee Howard adds an extended API around arrays and queries.

Joining Universal Mind!

17 May 00:14
I am very excited to say that I have accepted an offer to join the team at Universal Mind! In my opinion, Universal Mind really has put together an amazing team of extremely talented folks and I am looking forward to learning from them. In particular, I think this will offer me a great opportunity to grow as a Flex developer while still keeping one foot in the ColdFusion world. In fact, Universal Mind have told me they still have positions open; so feel free to contact me if you are interested.

ColdFusion Open-Source Update - May 12, 2008

13 May 03:32
Only one new project and three relatively minor updates this week but the one new project garnered a lot of attention. That project is Oscar Arevalo's new ColdFusion based CMS and portal manager called ColdBricks. In addition, there was a great deal of heated debate on the proposed license change for the next version of FarCry and a lot of talk about the future of Mach-II and Model-Glue. Now that conference season has officially begun, it seems as though the debates are in full swing in the community!
