Web 2.0 Expo in Berlin this October

9 Sep 06:03
I spoke at Web 2.0 Europe last year and it was great. The 2008 edition of Web 2.0 Expo will happen in Berlin on 21-23 October. Unfortunately I won't be there this year due to my speech at The ActionScript Conference in Singapore. But our Managing Director in Comtaste will be there. Web 2.0 expo is not only a cool conference where you'll learn a lot of technical and marketing stuff concerning Web 2.0, but it's a great opportunity to make networking.

Create an "Open Recent Files" cross-operating system menu in your AIR application

3 Sep 00:48
Using the NativeMenu and NativeMenuItem classes supported by Adobe AIR APIs is pretty easy to create native menu. But one cool thing very useful in a desktop application that works with local files is a Open Recent Files menu item features. This menu item acts like a history list of opened or created file. The NativeMenuItem class has the data property that allows to create a reference to an Object for a menu item.

I'm planned to spend this weekend to study the new FXG 1.0 specification released by Adobe on the Open Source site. As you probably know, FXG will be used by the next Flex 4 to improve the designer/developer workflow for skinning elements. In Flex 4 in fact there is a brand new graphics tag library that uses FXG and that follows very closely the Flash Player 10 rendering model.

It seems that Symbian Flash Lite devices will be supported :( It's a shame that the first consumer-oriented mobile application developed by Adobe won't support Nokia (Symbian) Flash Lite enabled mobile devices but only Palm devices.
