Flex Aggregator Launches: All Your Flex Are Belong To Us

15 Oct 18:51
Scott Stroz has launched a new blog aggregator that focuses just on Flex blogs: All Your Flex Are Belong To Us The name is a bit long - but there is no way you can forget it. I see there are already over four and a half thousand entries posted. The site uses the code base from ColdFusionBloggers.org, which I will remind people is free for anyone to use. (And will be updated later this week.

More new releases on Labs

1 Oct 19:26
I just blogged about Spry 1.6, but today there are some very important updates on Labs: Adobe ApolloAIR beta 2 - This is the #1 technology I really wish I had more time to play with. Now that the books are done I'm hoping to get to blog a bit more aboit it. Flex 3 Beta 2 - Another very important release. Flex just seems to get better and better. Adobe Media Player - this one is a bit unusual. I need to play with a bit more before I really comment on it.

Model-Glue 2 is Here!

26 Jun 21:48
The title says it all. You can now grab the 2.0 version of Model-Glue from the new shiny website at: http://www.model-glue/com I'm going to do a few MG 2 blog posts once I return from CFUNITED. Along with MG 2 for ColdFusion, Joe has released a version of Model-Glue for Flex. I've yet to have a chance to play with this, but I'm pretty darn excited. I'm still a newbie at Flex and I could really use some guidance!

AIR and Flex 3 Betas Launch Tonight

11 Jun 11:32
Adobe is on a roll lately. First a late night launch of ColdFusion 8, now we have new versions (and a new name!) of Adobe AIR (formally Apollo) and Flex 3. Adobe Integrated Runtime (AIR) (I love this technology, but boy do I wish they had kept the old name. Right now it sounds as cool as TPS forms!) Flex 3 If you haven't looked at either of these technologies yet, you are really missing out. Do yourself a favor and check them out now!

Flex/ColdFusion case sensitivity gotcha

16 May 20:49
Yesterday I was helping a ColdFusion user who is just getting into Flex. He kept getting this error: [RPC Fault faultString="[MessagingError message='Unknown destination 'Coldfusion'.']" faultCode="InvokeFailed" faultDetail="Couldn't establish a connection to 'Coldfusion'"] This was his first attempt trying to hook Flex 2 into ColdFusion and he wasn't getting anywhere. His code looked ok to me: But then I noticed something. He had "Coldfusion", not "ColdFusion".

Ben announces improvements to LCDS (Flex Data Services) Integration

6 May 23:58
There will be a new gateway that can be used to notify a data services destination of changes in the data being managed by the destination. Assemblers can return queries directly from the fill function withouth converting each row to a value object. Assemblers can use structs instead of CFCs to represent data. The structure can contain type info which will be used as the ActionScript type when sent to the Flex application. Flex Data Service can be integrated in the CF install.

cfObjective - Filtering and Sorting Data in Flex 2 by Scott Stroz

6 May 04:08
I just attended Scott's presentation on filtering and sorting in Flex 2 and it was very well done. I had done all of this before myself, but honestly most of my work was copying from the docs (or from Scott himself!), and it was darn nice to get a 'real' lesson behind what was actually going on. If you get a chance to see this presentation (I think he is giving it at the next Flex conference), definitely make the time.

RIAForge hits 200!

27 Apr 04:49
The title says it all - RIAForge just released its 200th project. Other stats for those of us who are stat junkies: Total Active Projects: 200 Total Views: 791967 Total Downloads: 63040 Total Verified Users: 1647 Updates in past 24 hours: 5 Unique Logins in past 24 hours: 45 New users in past 24 hours: 22 (And yes, I'm still looking for a way to slap AdSense up there without Adobe noticing!

Flex Going Open Source

26 Apr 17:47
Last night while the world slept (ok, most American timezones), Adobe announced that they were open sourcing Flex. Once again the Labs site is being used to host information: http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/Flex:Open_Source There you will find a a pretty lengthy faq about their move to open source as well. Hopefully we will see this up on RIAForge!
